I need an MRI scan on my postate. Been quoted 13,000 at Bkk Pattaya. Anyone have it done and if this a fare price. Cheers

The centre i used quotes 8,000 baht but it,s well away from Pattaya. ( North East Thailand )

Does the Pattaya Int. hospital do them for a comparison ?

Probably best to email the other hospitals, within a reasonable distance within the Chonburi area who have MRI facilities and compare their quotes as an extra indicator.

By the time you,ve took inconvenience, travel expenses ect. into account going further outside the area, even Bangkok makes it counter productive IMHO.

They are brilliant by the way and well worth the price if my scan is anything to go by.

Took nearly 2 hours and i got loads of negatives / films showing amazing detail.

I also got a specialist report to compliment their findings which were nothing to worry about.

If they spot anything unusual they get even more detailed images to ascertain what it is / may be.

They are able to monitor it all as they progress on a screen in the safe area.

you should expect to pay no more than 10,000 baht for a full MRI in Bkk. But as Pattaya's a tourist city, it doesn't surprise me they try to charge you more. that said, you should perhaps try other hospitals that are a little less ''grand'' like Pattaya Memorial Hospital or those in Sri Racha, i'm sure it'll be considerably less expensive.

Bkk Pattaya is a good hospital but they overcharge people just because of their lobby looks 10 times more posh than a 5 star hotel.

If you really want to save money and are here on a extended visa check your hospital records for your classification, there are three at most hospitals ; 1.. citizen 2. expat 3. tourest.... As we are not classified citizen the best price we can expect is expat which is approx 10% more than the local price, with the tourest price being the most expensive. Had mine checked recently and have saved a lot of money already on eye surgery.

I have sciatica and can't sit down wthout being in excruciating pain so that is to far away. Any ideas on prices in Bkk?

Queen Sirikit is only 40 min away compared to 2 hrs bkk,if u live in pattaya,u register when u arrive they give u a card to keep, all sections are now in thai and english so u know where to go or they wheel u in,right out the front, cafes everywhere, 2 resturants, but always best to get there early as only opens 8am to 4pm

monday to fri, weekends and after 4pm u go through emergency.

things move slower there ,but very good and the pharmacy is dirt cheap, unlike bkk pats and others ,all my family go there, including a birth.

Queen Sirikit Hospital at Sattahip isn't like a 5 star hotel, it's good and professional for your needs, alternatively, BKK-Pattaya, has good Doctors.

With a previous bad experience at the PHI Hospital, I would never recomend them at all...........Good luck :o

Try Bangkok Hospital Rayong - they're usually about 30% cheaper than Bangkok Hospital Pattaya for this sort of thing.
