Retirement Visa Application

Featured Replies

My Non O, issued in Hull UK in UK passport, has just expired & I have started my final 90 days. My wife of 11 years is Thai but also holds UK passport. We have no children. I am retired & have ample funds in Thai bank accounts. I am also an Australian citizen. Is there any way I can apply for a retirement visa without leaving the country? If not I would prefer to apply in Australia but would have to change passports which may be frowned upon. What are my options?

You say tyhat your non-o has expired and you are now in your final 90 day's. So what visa are you now on? If you are on a 30 stamp on entry the awnser is you will have to apply for a tourist visa (60 day) first in a neighbouring country. If you still are on a visa from an embassy or consulate you can apply for retirement, if you do so before the last 21 days your visa expires. This can not if you enterd Thailand with a 30 day stamp.

Will assume you are over age 50. You can apply for retirement extension of stay during the last 30 days of your present entry at the immigration office serving your area. The requirement is 800k or more in your name in a Thai bank account for the 3 months prior to application if using bank deposit method. You will need bank passbook/copies, passport/copies, departure card/copies, letter from bank of account balance and perhaps proof of address. You fill out a TM.7 form and attach a current 4x6cm photo and pay 1,900 baht.

He is here on a 90 day visa entry but visa itself has expired. Even if he were here on a 30 day visa exempt stamp he could obtain a non immigrant visa/extension of stay from Immigration if he had 21 days or more remaining on his permitted to stay stamp.

I stand corrected. But understood from this http://www.tillekeandgibbins.com/Publicati...sics/index.html under change of visa you cannot change a visa on an entry stamp.

You obtain a visa if on an entry stamp using TM.87 Application for Visa

Thanks for the explanation.
