June 9, 200818 yr Hi, I have been here for a while on Tourist VISAs now, but i was thinking that the Non Imm "O" VISA would be better. The cost of being here for three months on a Tourist VISA is 1000+1900 THB, where as the cost of a Non Imm "O" VISA is 2000 THB for the same length of time. I have heard that you can also get a one year Non Imm "O" VISA at 5000 THB, which could be compared to four Tourist VISAs with extensions at 4*1000+4*1900 (11600) THB. Other than saving some Baths, and possibly a few VISA trips; what are the advantages (or disadvantages), if any, of a Non Imm "O" VISA? Finally, there is apparently an obligation for ailien applicants, if they are supporters, to submit financial evidence. So, if i'm about to die here, i'd be on my own on a Non Imm "O" VISA, but not if on a tourist VISA? /Hans
June 9, 200818 yr You do not provide any information on how/where you plan to obtain such a visa so it is hard to make a judgment. The obvious advantage is a longer stay, ability to obtain a work permit and such. If you were married to a Thai it would be the obvious choice.
June 9, 200818 yr Author I plan to get my next VISA in Laos. I'm married to a Thai since not so long ago, but i'm not sure how it all would work out to get a Non Imm "O" VISA since i've not got any job yet... /Hans You do not provide any information on how/where you plan to obtain such a visa so it is hard to make a judgment. June 9, 200818 yr You should not have any issue obtaining a single entry non immigrant visa - marriage certificate/copy of wife id card (signed/dated) will be required but should also have copy of her home register (signed/dated) and a note asking that a visa be issued. There last two are probably not going to be asked for. To obtain multi entry visa (Penang/KL best for that) might require a show of some funds in your name in a bank account. Some obtain without and some don't. But a single entry should not require that and you should be able to obtain again if required (until told not to return - then you go elsewhere). Hopefully things will get better employment wise before than happens.
June 9, 200818 yr Author Thanks! Do you have an approximate figure on how big those funds ought to be as well? /Hans You should not have any issue obtaining a single entry non immigrant visa - marriage certificate/copy of wife id card (signed/dated) will be required but should also have copy of her home register (signed/dated) and a note asking that a visa be issued. June 10, 200818 yr There really does not seem to be any set rules and as mentioned some have none. But have seen suggestions of 50k or more. Believe quick judgment of sincerity seem more important than funds (as Singapore seems to have dropped their 400k system) so be prepared to make a good first impression. You should get at least a single entry (which is better than a tourist visa).
June 10, 200818 yr If you can get a Multi Entry Non O Visa. You can stretch it out to a 15 month stay.

June 10, 200818 yr Author At 1900 THB as the extension of a tourist VISA? /Hans If you can get a Multi Entry Non O Visa. You can stretch it out to a 15 month stay.
June 10, 200818 yr About 5,000 baht - but you do not need to pay the extra 3,800 baht for re-entry permit so yes it is cheaper that extension of stay for someone who travels anyhow.
