Quick Question Abou The 30 Day Stamp.

Featured Replies

Im a male 27 from the US. My question is, is the 30 day stamp limit 3 in a six month period. Or can you have as many as you want just cant be in Thailand for more than 90 days in A six month period. I've searched and found conflicting answers so if you could help me out, TIA.

For us citizens if you want to go over with no visa required originally (for purposes of tourism only) it is a max of 3 and then you must stay out of the country for 90 days before being able to return.

helpful info can be found here: http://www.thaiembdc.org/consular/visa/visa.htm

I've never seen anything in writing limiting anyone to only 3 "exempt" entries in 6 months, just the 90 day limit within 6 months.

That is how it works. :o

That is not correct. There is no limit on the number of visa exempt entries, but you can only stay a maximum of 90 days in any six months period. And after having used up your allotted 90 days on visa exempt entries you don't have to stay out of the country, if you get a visa you can come back right away.

No.

Yes.

No. After you use up the maximum 90 days visa-exempt stay within 6 months you are free to return to Thailand with a visa during the remainder of the 6-month period.

Thanks folks we'll see in a couple weeks for sure but i think I'm in the clear.

Yes. 90 days in a 6 month period. No limit as to how many entrances using this.

Yes I agree. No limit on how many you can use. But you can only be in Thailand for a maximum of 90 days using the exemption stamps. Then after your 90 days of exemption stamps, you must leave the country to obtain a visa from a thai embassy. You are welcome to come back anytime as long as you have a visa. There are no requirements for how long you must remain out of the country.

There is a limit for 'stay per entry' but there is not limit for entries. I am also running and I am staying here continuously from last 2 years.

Last time on airport upon arrival, immigration officer try to restrict my entry due to longer return date of my air ticket. So, what you have to do is to keep your return date within a visa validity limit. Later you can change it.

If you have a multi entry visa you can return back by ground. But for another type of visa you have to check if you can return back by ground? The easily available visa is double entry tourist visa from Penang, Singapore etc.

So, overall financial calculations are same on any long type of visa.

3 Double entry tourist visa = 3 air tickets + 3 visa run = 1 year

(there are lots of budget air tickets)

I haven’t seen anybody post recently about getting a double-entry tourist visa anywhere in the region except in Vientiane.

Your calculation for staying long term in Thailand with back-to-back tourist visas does not take into account the possibility of a 30-day extension, available at immigration offices for 1,900 Baht, after each entry with a tourist visa.
