June 23, 200818 yr I just heard the rumour - and the emphasis is on rumour for the time being - that Bangkok does not issue anymore WPs based on non-O visas. We are talking the marriage variant, not the retirement non-O. Allegedly this is going on for a while already. Can someone confirm the above or state that it is still possible?
June 23, 200818 yr I got my work permit and yearly extension with my non-o based on marriage two months ago with no difficulties.
June 23, 200818 yr Author sorry...fogot one detail..the person was referring to new applications only, not to extensions of existing WPs.
June 23, 200818 yr Believe this has to do with the requirement to meet nationality income requirements now for any work permit. They will even issue for those on retirement in Bangkok from what I have seen but to obtain work permit you must meet the nationality income requirement (50k for many) rather than just the 40k that marriage would normally require unless occupation is in the exempt or lower requirement category. It still seems to be a work in progress but Sunbelt has made a number of recent posts outlining the new rules.
