Compounding A Land Area

Featured Replies

We have a plot of land near Phum Chung which basically needs compounding prior to building a two storey house on an appropriate area of land.

I trust my wife implicitly but the quotes coming back to do the job (Im no builder) range from the ludicrously low to somewhat high with no middle ground at all.

The area is approx 40 metres by 20 metres and I need it raised to two metres in height-only front section of approx 20 metres wide can be ignored where gates will sit.

Any suggestions-the labourers will be local

Per linear metre for a brick build wall about 2metres high will cost about +1,500 Baht.

For a barbed wire fence look at between 120-200 Baht per metre.

Consider using a mixture of barbed wire (to repell cattle) and some form of planted hedge, maybe 20-30 Baht per plant (haggle for a bulk discount).

I expect you will probably have trouble getting people to understand what you need locally, the Thai method where I am is to dump lorry loads of soil/fill and leave it for a year to "settle".

Then they wonder why the walls crack. Something to do with physics and the fact that you need to apply a force in order to move something, rain water and gravity are not enough on there own.

When I was buildin my place I had a hel_l of a job explaining that I wanted a layer of dirt about 4-6 inches thick, then rollered, apply another 4-6 inches and rollered, repeat until complete, boy did I have a headache - and then trying to explain I wanted foundations dug down 2 metres...well...let's not go there.
