I'm itching to play some face to face poker and with my missus having just booked up a weekend away with uni - I thought this is a perfect chance to go and check out the poker scene in Macau and get some games in. If any members are up for joining me, feel free to PM or leave a post here! I'm planning for 4/5/6 July.

Cheers!

I was planning on going to the Grand Waldo - I've heard of good reports.

Any tips for a first time visitor, both playing in Macau and visiting?

Stay away from the slot machines, they will eat you alive.

Play at the Grand Waldo, but don't stay there - the casino is tiny, and the rooms are decidedly average compared to other hotels - plus it's in the middle of nowhere, the nearest place to go eat (the Venetian) is still a taxi ride away. Having said that - there's more than 100 restaurants in the Venetian...

If you don't book your hotel online, you can book at a decent price at the Shun Tak Ferry terminal in HK. Or else go to the center of the city (near the Lisboa) and there are agencies which also have much lower prices than paying direct at the hotel.

Thanks for the advice Onethailand. I've never been a fan of slot machines so that shouldn't be a problem.

Does anyone know how the ques work for the texas hold 'em at the Grand Waldo? Do I need to get there early to get a seat? I'm planning on playing in all the multi table tournaments over that weekend.

No queues - you go there and choose an available seat. It's not like US poker rooms where you normally have to get your name on the list.

That is, unless there's been a sudden surge of players since I was there earlier this month. Not sure whether there are any multi-table tournaments...

Vrey late I know... BUT,

ANYONE UP FOR A 4 WEEK TRIP to Macau or Cebu for some poker please Post ur email. Macau is great poker at Wynn's Casino but very expensive for hotels ($60 best I found, $25 for a dorm bed with homeless guys in the room...). I know of a two bedroom aprtment that rents at OK rates for month at better rates. Otherwise, I ahven't been to Cebu but have heard its OK for rental rates.

Please send me ur email or messenger and I'll make a group for contact if a few people are interested, perhaps we can get a crew together that would be fun!
