Non-immigrant Visa For Teaching

Featured Replies

I am coming to thailand on the 26 of july to take ATI course and to teach english in thailand. My concern is that I will be required to obtain a non-immigrant vise type b in order to work as a teacher. The problem is that I have two charges on my criminal record, A DWI and a simple assault charge. Otherwise all my paper work is legitimate. Is there anyone who can tell me if I will have a problem with this. The agent at the ATI course told me that if I do not get a non-immigrant visa that I can still show up with a tourist visa (no criminal check required) and work out the issue once I am over there. Is this sound advice? I just do not want a problem now that I have already booked flights and paid for the course, all non refundable.

To get a Non-Immigrant Visa to teach you will need a Police Certificate, and you will require one to get an extended visa in Thailand. I doubt that those convictions are likely to cause you much grief.

Thankyou Dr Pat Pong I feel more confident :o However I am still wondering if I should get the visa before leaving and if for some reason I am rejected here in the states, do you think it will be easier there. Also if I am rejected here will I still be able to apply again for the non-immigrant visa overthere? Sorry for so many questions, but it is important and getting clear answers is not easy. You say you doubt I will get much grief, how is it that you come to that conclusion, what is your experience level in such matters? Now I have really asked alot, but I appreciate greatly your help, thanks
