I am an amateur sociologist

I am not castigating anyone here. I am just genuinely curious.

An amateur sociologist who wants to hear about Professional ladies and their clients?

A Voyeur is perhaps a more honest discription!

Sod off and get a life of your own.

You obviously don't know steveromagnino, UG.

I've been with him when people have literally stopped him in the street and asked to take his photo. True story. dam_n prettyboys . .

Ladyboys on walking street don't count mate, geez

walking street in Pattaya?

Please, it will be a cold day in Pattaya before I walk there again. Last time, I was almost mobbed by Thai women throwing themselves at me.

I never realised I was so handsum until that evening. I honestly can say I am probably the best looking person ever that walked such a street, judging by the popular response i received.

BKKJames - incidentally, having previously been a recognised one of Bangkok's 15 most eligible bachelors in some trashy tabloid, I can assure you that I am indeed, or at least was, almost improbably good looking to the point most people assume I am gay. I think I acheived similar glory at some point in some trashy throwaway in Singapore.

Which I am not.

Not that there is anything wrong with it.

Some of my best friends are gay.

But anyheeow, to talk of walking street, one would think it was for walking. It isn't. It is for running. For your life.

I love it!

Haha, I bet your modesty is a real hit with the ladies too. Reminds me of those model body building type guys who get dressed up in their nicest clothes to go impress the girls in a go-go bar cause unlike at a real nightclub where you have to earn a girl's attention with more than just good looks (say intelligent conversation), in Soi Cowboy or Nana you can just pay for it, with or without your model looks and latest fashion.

I love it too!

Um, I never once mentioned professional ladies, nor asked to hear about them.

But since you are telling me to get a life of my own, well, then, wow! How could I have been missing that. I think I will now!

I think a better question would be "what percentage of bar girls from the North East have sex with farangs just for money"?

A bar girl is a bargirl in thailand irrespective of what province she comes from. Why do you feel the need to exclude a high proportion of thai ladies from your proposed survey?

SORRY FOR STARTING THIS THREAD!

I have been reading ad naseum all the other threads of a "worse" nature such as cheating on wives and infidelity, and there were many thoughtful posts on them amongst the pablum. And from reading other postings here in TV, I was beginning to wonder if more men than I had previously thought were here in Thailand for that one thing. Simple curiousity without meaning to judge anyone.

But so many have taken offense to this thread and have completey missed my points that it was obviously a bad idea. I thought there would be a less emotional response and more revealing thoughts and opinions. I was wrong.

So sorry.

(For the record, I am here because my work is here. Most of my friends are Thai (I got my doctorate with them), and I like Thai culture, but without my business being here, I would live back home.)

You might be able to more accurately predict this response when you get beyond mere "amateur sociologist" status then? :o

Well Roy, I am only going on personal experience with this one and from my vast surveys of bars in Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket and even Samui, the overwhelming majority come from the NE / Isaan. Sorry if that offends you but although there may be a few local uni girls in BKK who are up for it to supplement their income on the side, my generalisation was based on first hand experience.

You would disagree with this? Ok, you are entitled to.

For the men who regulary post and continually refer to sex, 1are these men who came here and live here for that, 2or are they here for other reasons but take advantage of the sexual opportunities? 3Or could they be just making comments without regard to their actual lifestyles?

1 50% are here for the sex

2 50% are here for other reasons but enjoy the sex (and 99% of them actively sought a job here for the sex)

3 100% are talking from personal experience of the sex

You live in Pattaya. As such, your opinion can obviously be ignored as it skews the sample of other, more sensible, members.

But the OP's question was about Farangs in Thailand and Pattaya is in Thailand.

No, I would not have predicted it. I am a hobbiest, and the publications where I write tend to be more academic and not so judgemental. Logic tends to rule and is admired, so people try to refute or support ideas with it.

And I truly fail to see how this is more disconcerting than the cheating husbands and infidelity threads. So while I can observe and write for an academic environment, I guess I can't predict the responses from a general public. So in that cae, your jab is right. I am not a professional. I make bags, after all. That is my profession.

I'm sure it's much more than the 10% you originally thought just by the sheer volume of retirees and long term expats vastly outnumbering the number of employed expats here (who can claim they're here for work and not sex).

But to get an idea of the numbers without a debate or judgement why not do it as a Poll, for what the results may be worthh.

You may very well be the best looking person that ever walked such a street, but Tony Curtis was once a very hansum man that walked many streets in his time and likely got a far better response than yourself.

Please go check out the most recent photo's of that hansum man today, I say him beng interviewed the other day and it was a very unpleasant and pathetic sight I am sad to say.

If you also check out some of the once most famous faces that once graced the world on screen and stage and you might just get a peek at what lies in store for yourself in the future.

Incidentally, I have also walked down walking street and literally mobbed by many beautiful ladies ( some not so beautiful too!) who were clearly overwhelmed by my looks as they all called me an hansum man , so much so they wanted to dag me into a bar for a drink and not wishing to boast but I am fairly sure some of them were so over whelmed by this hansum man

they would have been delighted to shag me to the point of death if I wished.

Odd really as when I got back home all I could see was a middle aged running to fat guy in the mirror, I can only assume those ladies must be kinky for men like me as I have never been listed in the thai newspapers as a rich eligable man.

But then we shouldnt really judge a book by its cover should we!

I have not yet learned how to have sex but am interested. Where I am from I read about the subject and viewed films demonstrating it's practice. I have indeed come to Thailand to experience sex I am very excited to complete my education about how it is done. I have a Non Imm Type XXX visa for this purpose.

Maybe I should have done a poll, but like many who have had to do tons of meaningful statitical polls for a doctorate, I am somewhat elitist when it comes to polls, and it is impossible to get a statisticaly valid poll on a forum like this. But it still might have been revealing.

But from the overwhelmingly negative and even attacking responses I have received, I am certainly not going down that road now with a poll. We can say all we want about who cares what others post or say, but as social creatures, we do care what others think. And while I will probably never actually meet any of the posters here, it has been rather disheartening to bear the brunt of such ill will.

pssssssst . Roy . . .a private word please.

let it go . . . really . . it's not important.

I agree, the boy does have issues concerning vanity, no wonder he came to Thailand, mirror mirror on the wall who's the fairest of them all.

'Your so vain, you probably think this forum is about you, your so vain'. What was the topic of this thread? Why men come here for sex or why he is mobbed by girls on walking street because of his looks?

Hmm, no ,, I got it, the thread was about why do very good looking men have to come to Thailand for sex?

In your earlier response you said you mix mainly with thai's as you earned your doctorate with them, then you state,

the publications where I write tend to be more academic and not so judgemental, more interestingly you also stated

"logic tends to rule and is admired".

As it appears you recieved your educational qualifications amongst thai people and continue to socialise mainly with thai people I am puzzled by your reference to logic.

In my experience logic has very little to do with the way Thai people think or operate and much the same can be said of the manner in which the administration of the country is conducted as a whole.

When I went to school, there was a group of about 8 Thais there who were also pursuing their degrees. Somehow, I hooked up with them, and we became friends. After that, while visiting them in Thailand, I met their friends who then became mine as well.

My writings, however, are all for US or English publications. So I don't see your point here.

And to infer that no Thais use logic is also puzzling. I have seen as much logic in conversations with Thais as I have with any other demographic group.

Bonobo, I think this is a great thread...highly amusing.

Personally, I am moving to thailand for beer, sun, scuba diving and kinky sex...not necessarily in that order! :o Now wonder where that membership for the Castle is....

I think a lot of tourists fall into the commercial sex scene. They may not necessarily have come for that in the first place but the availability, ease and the relative friendliness (more so in the past than now) of the bar staff makes it easy to get caught up in it all.
