Locating Ingredients In West Yorkshire

Featured Replies

Hi to you all, I have been trying to find green papaya and dried shrimp in my local supermarkets but have had little success. I have found papaya but it was ripe and the less said about the somtum I made the better.

Can anyone advise me on how to go about locating these and any other Thai Ingredients.

Many thanks

I would have thought it was relatively easy to come across in one of the asian districts in Leeds or Bradford.

Not sure if Leeds has a 'china town' like manchester. If it has then thats your best bet for dried shrimp.

If your struggling to find green papaya try using swede (the turnip type thing) finely grated, as a substitute.

It worked for my wife when she was in need of a somtam fix.
