After eight years the worst thing that has happened to me is (knock on wood) that some staff in the Surat Thani airport stole 5 dvd copies from my bag.

My advice is:

Don´t spread money around.

Don´t be a smart ass.

Treat people with respect.

If you need to borrow money. Go to the bank.

Don´t involve yourself with drugs.

Don´t gamble.

Good advice for any country! Had so many mixed emotions about living in thailand, but somehow, it is growing on me again more and more, and I will just try it out for 6 months every year. If I like it, then I can keep extending that 6 months. One thing I just don't miss in Canada is the Winters. They are long and where I live, cloudy. If I see the sun 10 times in 8 months, I consider myself lucky.

Can't complain about those 4 months.... this year maybe we are down to 2 months as it was a fairly grim and long Winter that never seemed to end.
