3 Day Overstay = Future Problems?

Featured Replies

Hi people. I'm an Australian male, 41 years of age.

Arrived in country on normal 30 day free tourist visa, but my return ticket is booked for 3 days after this visa expires.

I have married a Thai national, who owns a house here (SriRacha) and has changed her i.d. papers into my surname.

My questions are these :-

1) Should I overstay for 3 days and pay the fine? Will this lead to problems in me obtaining a 1 year "o" visa in future?

2) Should I get another 30 days and pay 1900b?

3) Can I just get the 3 days and pay less money?

4) Should I do a border run to Cambodia, win some money at the casinos and come back?

I really don't want to fork out the 1900b (call me a cheap charlie if you like)

What do others think?

Although it probably won't harm your visa chances in the future you know it will not help them. I would pay the 1,900 baht for a 7 day extension - it is going to cost you 1,500 baht for overstay if you do not and you put yourself at needless risk. If you would prefer a border trip and a game of chance do that.

Yeah I know, will probably just get the extension. Want to get a 1 year visa further down the track.

Cheers.
