Tot Very Slow

Featured Replies

I live on Koh Samui and have a 2Mb contract with TOT, within Thailand it works fine, however most of what I do is Europe or America and it simply does not work from 5pm to midnight every day.

I can not get Hotmail or Yahoo emails. ping www.hotmail.co.uk =400/500ms or times out. Even when it does work it is dail up speed.

TOT seem not to be abe to do anything.sad.gif

I have heard abot DNS proxy server issues, how do I check this?

Please tell me if you can recomend another ISP, TT&T top package seem favourite.

Are True Vision Satelite any good.

I have heard bad reports about Ipstar.

All sugestion very gratefully recieved.

TOT can be absolutely unusable at times. I don't think I would ever have just TOT in any installation.

Same problem in Hua Hin with goldcyber package from TOT. TOT came out on Friday and tested the line and said "it's normal" :D . I showed them the speedtest.net results - ok for BKK but useless outside of LOS. "It's normal" :D for home package. They say only way to get decent speeds outside LOS is to have a corporate package. :o

I had better speeds with CAT HiNet in Chion Buri.

I simply cannot believe the ISPs can consider the internet two independent networks. Inside Thailand and outside. Complaining in this country get you nowhere. Can the average Thais honestly be satisfied with the bandwidth provided to any services outside Thailand or are they only using Thai websites?

TOT came out yesterday and said there a problem in Surathani which will be sorted in about 3 weeks.

TOT do corporate packages (SME) 1, 2 , 4 and 8Mb, they are alot more expensive than home use. Does anyone know if they are any good?

Can anyone suggest another ISP, one that works between 6pm and midnight?

www.speedtest.net says at times the conection at times runs at 1.6Mb, yet XP task manager has a figure closer to 100kbs, which one is correct?

I have TOT at my place in Pattaya, it is the worst ever......I have the gold Cyber 2 MB package. most sites to the USA test around 100 kps or less. I test to london at 1700, it is really strange when I use www.speedtest.net it does depend on where you do your test. I an do LA and get 90 kps and do San Francisco and get 300 kps. I have ji-net n Bangkok 1 MB and get 700 to 800 or more on all the test sites...it is very strange that it vars so much with TOT and yes my gmail is very very slow with TOT and Hotmail also....I think TOT is using some 2nd or 3rd or 4th rate provider it really sucks...it is 4 am before I get any descent speed with TOT. I have been in Thailand 7 years and if anything it has gotten worse not better. you must pay about 5,000 THB or more to get a descent 2 MB connection. I think this new goverment cares even less and is putting all its effort to safe itself and their master.

The San Francisco server on Speedtest seems to be the fastest one they have. I usually get a faster speed on there than the Thai based server.

TOT upgraded me from goldcyber to SME (platinum) package. Speeds outside of Thailand marginally better but not great :o . I'll be switching to CAT HiNet next week since I'm getting better speeds with them at another location.
