Billion Adsl Modem Upgrade For Maxnet?

Featured Replies

Greetings

I have a BIPAC 5100s modem for my Maxnet 2mb/512kb service. It seems like I have to reset it quite a bit when it hangs. Other than having to power cycle it several times a day the performance is decent.

Has anyone gotten a better modem and seen reliability/performance improvement over the 5100s? Is it worthwhile? Can't determine if TOT etc is providing a flaky connection or if the modem is to blame.

Any advice?

My modem (TOT supplied on TOT 2Mb ADSL) is the Bipac 5210S. Haven't had to reset/power cycle it at all.

Obviously, connection speed is variable - but I put that down to traffic fluctuations.

Not the same modem or provider, but a similar problem.

I was having to reset my KSC supplied Zyxel modem/router on a regular basis. I noted it got slightly better with the aircon running, fitted a b00dy great (70mm) fan on top (having cut a hole of course) and the problem went away :o

The router is still reset at 3am every morning (it's on a cheapo timer) and everything's been hunky-dory for well over 18 months :D
