The group at the aerodrome is the Pattaya Sports Club gathering.

They play slow pitch softball every Sunday at 1300, weather permitting.

============================

Chariot:

There are three basic types of this sport.

Firstly there is baseball, or hardball as it is also known. Here the ball is pitched overhand to a batter some 60 feet away with speeds ranging up to 100 mph. The ball is also small and hard, thus the name. Should the batter be successful in making contact with the pitched ball, he must then circumnavigate the bases to successfully score a run.

Secondly, there is fast pitch softball. In this game the pitch is made with a windmill windup to a batter some 45 feet distance with speeds ranging upwards of 80 mph. The ball is somewhat larger than a hardball but it is not soft. The original balls in this derivative of the sport were originally soft, thus the name. The batting procedure is the same as in baseball but is somewhat harder when batting against a really top pitcher.

Thirdly, there is slow pitch. A regulation softball is used but the pitch is made underhanded and must make an arc from the pitcher's hand to the catcher exceeding three feet. The speed generated is usually about 6 mph. Batting in this version is the easier of the three.

I won't go into outs, hits, strikes, balls, innings, fair balls, foul balls, etc. Certain things you need to find out on your own. :o
