no sound on my computer after reset up.checked volume and mute all ok .Plug in wrong hole I guess ,but which one. Help please.

There are generally only three "holes" to plug it into.  If that doesn't down, right click on "My computer" select "manager" and then click on "device manger".  Find the "sound" device.  Perhaps your drivers aren't loaded......

I had this promblem before, and no one could get my sound to work.

Turned out it was because they had installed windows incorrectly, when they re installed window the sound worked

XP SP3 installed? When I had that one on my latop, there was no sound either...
