Importing Used Goods To Thailand

Featured Replies

My wife is a returning Thai national who has lived in England for a few years.

Question is

Can she import (through a shipping company) her/our possessions from the UK.

We would like also to bring a used ride on mower, will there be any issues at thai customs?

Thanks

A returning Thai national can import her household goods duty free, as long as it is a reasonable ammout. Not sure about the lawn mower. Is it a vehicle or not?

Hi

As I understand it not all goods that we consider "standard" household items in the uk are viewed that way by the thai authorities, for instance I understand used fridges and other used electrical items are taxed quite heavily even for returning thais, trouble is it seems you are at their mercy as they decide the amount of tax on arrival in LOS.

I understand it may be cheaper to buy new in LOS than to bring your old machines, I would nto be at all suprised to learn that a drive on mover will be considered a luxury item ( S/H r not!) and taxed to the hilt.

I suspect that many refuse to pay over the top tax on certain items and hazarda guess that the homes of officers assessing items for tax purposes are very well kitted out as a result.

Cynic that I am.
