Greetings ...

I will be visiting Pattaya for two weeks in October. My job requires that I have connectivety and be able to perform certain task while on vacation. :D

The range of Hotels with hardwired in room connections is somewhat limited. WiFY is available in some places but also limited ... and I would rather not have the exsposure of a public WiFY network.

I have a AT&T USB connect 881 USB modem (Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE - 850/900/1800/1900 MHz, HSUPA,EDGE Class 12). It is enabled for overseas use but the rates are rather exspensive. I believe that this is the same as a Siera Wireless AirCard 881/881U USB.

Assuming that I can get AT&T to "unlock" the device, is there a service provider in Thailand with coverage in Pattaya from whom I can get a local SIM card supporting data services?? Does anyone know if they have implimented HSUPA ?? Does anyone know what the rates are or can you provide a URL to thier site ?

Thanks in advance for any information provided. :o

My advice is: go to a DTAC shop (or AIS), buy a SIM card (50 or 100 baht) and buy there internet GPRS credit (DTAC-15hrs/100 baht, AIS-20hrs/100 baht), insert the SIM into your 881 and go ….
