July 28, 200817 yr Hi, My wife would like to lose the weight she gained during her pregnancy. She is quite interested in the various slim up centers for which you can see a lot of advertisements (Marie France Bodyline and the likes). Anybody have experience with such centers? Thxe
July 28, 200817 yr Yes. They charge a lot and do not give any lasting results. Your wife will fare much better with diet and maybe a gym membership.
July 30, 200817 yr I would have to concur. Most of the techniques they use are pure chicanery. Take body wraps, saunas, etc. Of course, if you induce serious sweating for an hour, and then take your measurements you will be thinner. But as soon as you drink an adequate quantity of water to replace what you have lost, you will be the same size again. I have a little experience doing personal training for women. Proper diet and regular exercise constitutes the only effective, long term solution to weight loss and better health. Mixing cardio with weights and/or machines is best. Do these on alternating days. The more muscle one has, the faster one burns fat since muscle demands more calories just to exist than does fat. And no, women will not get big muscles from lifting weights unless they are taking testosterone, steroids and other chemicals. But they will lose body fat, get toned and look (& feel) much better.
