Although I have found a lot of useful information on the site and the various threads can someone please point me in the right direction on the following:

  1. Has anyone any experience of using the Singkon immigration checkpoint as I live near Prachuap Khiri Khan? What was the experience like?
  2. As this will be my first application and I am going down the pension 65,000 route, do I need a doctors certificate and a letter from my Thai bank. I don't think I do. I know about Embassy letter, TM7, photo etc.
  3. Any useful information would be appreciated.

The above list is and/or. You do not need a bank account or bank letter or medical certificate at Bangkok when using Embassy letter of 65k income. Other office/officers might have different ideas so always expect the unexpected. Make sure the photo is current and not the same as your passport. Have copies of passport/pages and departure card.

I have a question that I didn't ask in previous threads that discussed visa extensions.

My type "O" visa expires Oct 30 and I have to make my 90 day visa run by Sept 21. If I leave Thailand on or before Sept 21 and return by Oct 29, since my return entry stamp will be good for another 90 days, approx. Jan 25, will I be able to apply for my visa extension upto 30 days before Jan 25, 2009 even though my actual visa expired Oct 30, 2008.

Reason for edit: calculated wrong date

I think I understood what you meant.

If you are talking about a years extension you can apply anytime within the final month of your current permission to stay.

In your case between 25th December and 25th January. Approx.

It makes sense to do it early in case of any problems.

So basically in my case, the date of importance to do a 1 year retirement extension, is the "final date of my current permission to stay" and not the "date the visa expires"

And yes I agree, that it's wise to do the extension at least 3 weeks before the permission to stay date expires.

Thanks again LB. :o

Following on from my original post, my current multi entry non O visa expires on 19/12/2008. Now clearly I can continue to make visa runs and stay in the Kingdom until mid-March 2009. But living were I do I find the visa run expensive and time consuming. Am I correct in thinking:

  1. I can apply for visa extension at anytime before mid-March 2009 providing I have been in the country for a period of 60 days prior to my application?

If my thinking is right:

  1. Can I do this after 60 days from my current entry date i.e.the date stamped in passport from my last visa run, which would be around the 25th August, even though my original multi entry doesn't expire till December?
  2. If the answer to 1 above is yes, what date would my extension of stay expire if they grant it?

Thanks in anticipation!

Apply 30 days or less before your current permission to stay expires.

Your 1 year extension will be from your current permission to stay date.

I haven't a clue about the 60 days you are referring to.

Thanks for information. About the 60 days I was referring to in my post-I was under the impression you need to be in the Kingdom for a continuous period of 60 days before applying for the extension.

I didn't know the 1 year extension starts from the current permission to stay date. That's good to know, so I will definitely apply as early as possible. No advantage to wait until the last moment.

The wealth of knowledge on this forum is awesome. Thanks
