Customs not slipped up by 'gay lube'

July 30, 2008 09:36am

CUSTOMS says it was not fooled by labelling on bottles of liquid steroids which described the contents as "gay lube".

Customs said today it had seized more than 150 bottles of the drugs in Victoria, Western Australia, New South Wales, Queensland and South Austalia since the beginnng of the year, when they were first discovered.

"Australian Customs is investigating a highly sophisticated drug smuggling network where liquid steroids were hidden inside bottles marked as containing a sexual lubricant," the agency said.

"The bottles, labelled as 'gay lube oil', actually contain prohibited performance and image enhancing drugs manufactured and sent from Thailand."

Customs national manager investigations, Richard Janeczko, said the so-called gay lube contained ingredients including testosterone and deca durabolin, drugs which could not be imported without a permit from the Therapeutic Goods Administration.
