Quick Tot Question

Featured Replies

I was browsing the ToT website (http://www.tot.co.th/toten/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=188&Itemid=1082) this morning in my frustration over their awful service and noticed the following line:

Maximum 4 Mbps download speed and 512 Kbps maximum uploading speed in always-on connection, unlimited internet access , with the transmission speed varying upon the distance and the quality of the lines.

Now, I know they upgraded the Goldcyber to 2Mbps recently. Is there a further upgrade inc or available?

It's not in their list of packages ... but why don't you give 'em a call or drop by in one of their customers service centers.

But it is my guess, that if your 2mbs sucks, the 4mbs will equally.

Double post

Edited by sniffdog

They could be selling 10 Mbps. connections on that clause, while still giving people 1 Kbps connections like they are now.

I also want double posts... :o

i subscribed to them yesterday. They said would be in to install "the line" next week or something. 4MBps down and 1MBps up. THb1,090. Dunno how good this is going to be but don't need a phone line to have this internet connection.

anyone else subscribing to this yet?

edit: double posts doesn't do much for me unlike for some people!

If service doesn't require a tele line - how will you get it?

Starship Enterprise will provide a stable beam TOT can use :o

Sounds like Goldcyber has had another "upgrade", let's hope it actually is faster this time. I think I'll go to the shop today armed with a printout of their website. See what they have to say.

they put in a line for you. without any association to a phone number or phone ! maybe leased line?

I called them today about this (again) and I was told they have no info on this package. However, after a bit of digging the guy did say that it may be available through the local office. "up to them, sir"

Very strange.

attached is the package info and it has chiang mai numbers on it but am sure its applicable throughout thailand.

LOL .... since a couple of weeks the download as well upload speeds of GoldCybe (2Mbs/512kbs) have been decreased by 60-70% .. and now another 'upgrade'?

Are they bandwidth shaping goldcyber or has there been a new influx of users to upset the ratio?

Don't confuse people .... this is CAT not TOT (where this thread is about).

TOT has no packages like this .... There is no plan to upgrade the 2Mbs to 4Mbs anytime soon.

Maxnet is now promoting their 2Mbs for 590 baht.

Don't be so sure of that. I got my girlfriend to phone up the ToT Patong office this morning and after some pushing he admitted that 4Mbps is available. He just directed us to visit the shop for more details. I am going to go in on Sunday and see if I can't get an answer. I have a feeling they are going to play "The only on some exchanges" card.

TigerBeer posted a scan of a packages ... that are not TOT packages but CAT packages. He subscribed to a CAT package, not to a TOT.

Ah..

I went to the CAT here in Pattaya and the woman said to me that 4 Mbit Standard package is only available in Bangkok for now.

I went to ToT today in Patong and they ARE offering 4Mbps as part of a promotion. Basically the same price as 2 for 15 months.

TOT installed line today for me and internet will be active on wednesday. 2meg was 1000b and 3meg was 1500b per month. Installation cost were 2700b excluding a modem or phone(already have em)

CAT-CDMA service has been a good but slow service up till now.

Lets hope I notice an improvement.

DAVE

Really strange all these TOT different packages available in different regions ...

Phuket ... 4mbs available for the price of 2MB

Bangkok ..... only 3 mbs available at 50% surcharge.

Well, we all know that TOT connectivity in Phuket and Pattaya is in general worse than Bangkok ... so you might wonder what a 4mbs is worth ....

Plus, it seems they charge a lot just for installation now.

CAT offers now In Pattaya 2 Mbit for around 1800 Baht.

I have 2 Mbit from CAT and I am very satisfied with them.
