So What The hel_l Do I Do Now?

Featured Replies

So what the hel_l do i do now?

The problem is this. I've downloaded a load of torrents and they are residing on my torrent client, Vuse.

I went out and bought some DVD-R discs to load the torrents on. When i try to copy the files to the disc i get a dialog box telling me "There's no disc in the drive"

Now, i think it's got something to with formatting the discs but i'm not sure. How do i do that and just as importantly WHY the hel_l do i have to do that?

Cheers :o

Please proceed to next question only if you answer yes except for question 4.

1. Do you have DVD drive?

2. Do you have DVD writer?

3. Are you using correct type of disks? i.e. DVD-R or DVD+R or DVD-DL etc.

4. What software are you using to transfer files to dvd?

1. Yes

2. Good question. Toshiba dvd-rom sd-r2312. (When i click on properties for this drive it tells me DVD-RW Drive)

3. DVD-R disc installed.

4. I drag and drop the files to the disc, then click Write these files to CD and a CD writing wizard appears. I click next and it asks me to put a disc in the drive.

You have a CD writer and DVD reader..

Kinda hard to write DVD's with that !!

What Software are you using when you "Drag and Drop"?

Usually you can't just "copy" Files to a CD, you need to "write" them, a different process entirely.

You should use a Program like Nero to properly transfer the Files.

Thanks for that, all is now clear.

However, i still have a load of torrents to store. What is the best option for me to do this?

Assuming this is not a notebook then a new dvd-writer should be around 1000 Baht to buy a new one. If a notebook, not sure of the cost. Alternative is an external 5.25 USB drive box and a new dvd-writer put in it.

Also, an external 2.5"/3.5" USB drive box and a large hard drive will also allow you to store them.
