Yes how the mighty have fallen. The team with the most points obtained by fair means in the next three seasons will be real champions unlike several previous titles won by Rangers who have a case to answer about using illegal means.

Salty will the current TV deal stay in place ? Love doesnt put food on the table............

spongeman, Who the hell knows? Reduced fee or maybe no coverage for a few seasons maybe. There certainly will be financial implications but all this was caused initially by the arrogance of the former club who were so fixated on winning they were prepared to do so at any cost or means.

Just send us to the 3rd Division. It will keep most happy.

you have your wish, is it a good thing I doubt it, is it justified, I think it is. But are some going to pay for the staunch belief they had to pay so harsly for their sins, yes they are, are they correct, time will tell.

As a Rangers supporter. Its only fair after whats gone on that we start at the bottom. But people are saying that it's the death of Scottish football. But is it? Look at these clubs in the 3rd division. Some have never faced Rangers in their history. Obviously others have. Look at the ground sizes and the average attendance. Its not high. But maybe with Rangers coming into that division. It may give the league the boost it needs. It may bring back some fans of these other clubs. Get the kids down to watch Rangers play their local team.It may be exciting time ahead. Lets say that Rangers don't make it out of the 3rd division at their first attempt. That means they are there for another season. Thus bringing in more money to some of the other clubs. But also if they go up to the 2nd division. The same argument can be said about giving that league a boost. This may or may not happen. But its my opinion and views on it. We just have to get on with it. Then there's the National team. What with Rangers now unable to bring in foreign players on high end salaries. Then some of the local boys will hopefully be given a chance. We will see. BTW i can also see some other clubs going under over the next few years. But maybe this is the big shake up Scottish football has needed for years.

Its good to see someone else see past the next few months and look towards a hopefully better future.

For me...two leagues of twenty teams...play each other twice a season....less TV money perhaps but a far far better league for the fans.

This might really see attendances rise....who wants to watch endless second or third division football with no chance of ever mixing it with the big boys?

I agree, however it may only increase the local support, I have heard many Rangers fans say they will not put revenue in to another club by going to support them at other grounds. Or did they just mean the SPL? Which would make more sense in my view.

Is this not the Celtic thread anymore?

Don't worry CB...I'm sure you will get your thread back soon enough....no one can find the Rangers one anyway! biggrin.png

Edit: That's a good point...will you be closing the Rangers Thread and starting a Newco one JS?

Might be an idea. I wont close the other one. But will probably start a new one. That way we don't hijack the Celtic thread anymore than we have too.

Its the silly season CB. And this one is the most historically silly by miles. Normally you and I would be slumbering hopefully having stored enough

nuts for the winter and due to reawake when European draw is made in next few days. The Bhoys were rubbish last night and you can only hope they will get the finger out or we will be making an early exit.

Tonight Sevco accepted all outstanding penalties attributable to the SFA membership of soon-to-be-liquidated Rangers. They also agreed that if Rangers are found to have cheated for over a decade by illegally registering players that they will be subject to whatever penalties Rangers would be due, in order to acquire Rangers SFA membership.

Only a week ago Ally McCoist insisted he would not be party to such a deal, it remains to be seen if that they were empty words.

The Scottish Premier League will now continue with its inquiry into the alleged dual-contracts Rangers operated during the Sir David Murray era. I confidently predict the findings will reveal Rangers did not operate within the same rules as every other club, since at least the last century. The former club will be stripped of all league titles and cups. Celtic will be awarded league titles for 2003, 2005, 2009, 2010 and 2011, creating a new Scottish record of 12 consecutive league championship wins.

Sevco will be liable for any punishment due for these years of operating with shadow contracts, the likely severity of which will reflect the enormity of the offence.

Should the First Tier Tribunal find that Rangers evaded paying up to £75m of social taxes, which is explicitly against Fifa and SFA rules, the SFA disciplinary tribunal will punish Sevco, the successor club now due to inherit Rangers SFA membership.

If you are on the receiving end of this, the future will appear daunting. If you stood at Rugby Park, Fir Park, Celtic Park, St Mirren Park or Caledonian Stadium, when Celtic effectively or actually ‘lost’ league titles while observing the rules, the cumulative effects of punishments on a rival are meaningless, you will want trophies awarded to those who were prepared to endure defeat while observing the rules.

One day soon the world will know, you were not paranoid after all!

CB, Thought it was safer to post here rather than "The anti-Rangers" thread. Ally might read and want to know who is this person.rolleyes.gif

Games are won on the pitch. If you don't win those games then you don't win the league or cups. Simple. Lets say that it's proven that Rangers operated with some dodgy dealings. Would you actually feel comfortable saying you won those cups or leagues? You didn't. You were beaten on the pitch. Just look at Jackie McNamara says about it.

Celtic 2 Hjk Helsinki 1

A narrow first leg win and an away goal for the Finns leaves Celtic skating on thin ice for the return next week.Celtic made a forceful start and pressed from the start without making any really good chances. When HJK got the ball upfield they looked lively and Celtic were fortunate not to concede a penalty after 11 minutes. As a Finnish forward chased down a ball just inside the area near the end line Wanyama made a mindless challenge when there was no need got the Finn instead of the ball which went out of play. Luckily for Celtic the referee gave a goal kick. Later in the first half Forrest was shoved by a defender who was on the wrong side of a cross which Forrest headed wide, and Brown was brought down by a ill advised lunge from a Finnish defender. All 3 incidents were fouls and would have been given outside the area. In the 2nd half of the first half the Finns really came into it and were knocking it about confidently and having more of the play than Celtic. There were a few hairy moments in front of the Celtic goal and half time arrived at 0-0.

Celtic were caught at the start of the second half. A good ball threaded through took a slow Brown out and put Schuller through on goal. Forster made a good block with his foot but the ball rebounded off Wanyama back to the Finn who turned it in from an angle. The most annoying aspect for me was Wanyama's reaction which was far too slow. Had he read the situation he could have got back to the line and as the angle was tight would have had a decent chance of blocking the shot. Celtic now needed to get the finger out and Commons almost equalised straightaway. His shot hit the post with the goal beaten and rebounded out for a corner off him. The relief around Parkhead was palpable when Celtic equalised a few minutes later. Commons put Samaras away in space and he delivered a perfect cross which took out the centre back and Hooper slid it home from close range. Celtic now had a head of steam up and Hooper in the box was wrestled off the ball from behind but the referee saw nothing wrong. A corner was forced almost immeadiately and Mulgrew arriving late scored with a downward header which flew up and into the top of the net. Celtic spent the rest of the game pressing for a 3rd goal were unable to add to the score and there was always the worry that the Finns could grab an equaliser.

A nervy night awaits next week.

Celtic 1 Aberdeen 0:

An opening day win for Celtic after a lethargic display. There were few chances for either side and Aberdeen were coping comfortably with the 1/33 title favourites until 12 minutes from the end. The Don's defence went to sleep as Celtic took a short corner and Commons had a half centre half shot of very limited power. A bad mistake from Langfield allowing the ball to beat him at the near post. A fortunate winner that does little to dispel the unease before Wednesday's return leg in Helsinki.
