george
Kathu bars get green light for Mothers’ Day PATONG: -- Despite widespread belief among bar owners that they will not be allowed to operate tomorrow night because of Mothers’ Day, the head of Kathu Police has confirmed that nightlife entertainment venues in the Kathu Police District will be allowed to operate as normal. “I haven’t received any orders to enforce a ban on alcohol sales tomorrow, so all bars can open as usual,” Kathu Police Superintendent Col Grissak Songmoonnark told the Gazette this afternoon. Kathu Police District covers all of Patong, the center of Phuket’s tourist-oriented night entertainment industry. -- Phuket Gazette 2008-08-
simon43
Indeed, when I was on volunteer police patrol yesterday (Tuesday), only about 50% of the bars were open. Simon
LivinLOS
Perhaps because they were told explicitly by thier 'police contact' that they could not open. I know for a fact that one bar where I drink called thier (expensive) police friend and were told 'no cannot'.. Then they called him with news that the police chief had said it was OK in the paper and still told 'no cannot'.. Once again left hand.. Right hand..
