Will be in Bkk on 25Nov for a period of 5 days and understand that the festival of Loy Krathong will be on 26Nov. As I will be in Bkk area, would like to know where to go and experience the festival?? they say it is the most beautiful and colourful event of the calendar.. Any comments?? Thanks.

Go to Ayutahya which is a short bus ride from Bangkok.

Last time I was in BKK for Loy Krathong there were loads of people up near the canal on Soi 3 doing it there. Very impromptu affair away from the main sites but very good fun! Lots of booze going round!

I've been to a couple in bkk - Benjasiri Park (next to the Emporium, Sukhumvit) and near the Royal Orchid Sheraton, near the river.

The dinner boat Chao Phraya Princess (Supakarn Pier) is having a special cruise that night (2,500 baht I think).

Anywhere the is water will have people celebrating Loy Kratong.

In some areas you will also be able to Loy Katoy.
