Samut Prakan - Flood Warning

Featured Replies

The last few times I have phoned my Thai gf who lives in Samut Prakan, she tells me that they have been warned that a big flood is expected soon and they should be prepared to leave their homes. She seems very worried and everyone is talking about it.

Does anybody who lives in this area have any information about this.

Yes gov't put out the warning of up to 2 meter, mostly from surging seawater to be expected soon

STORM SURGE

Bangkok could be hit by storm surge, Smith says

By The Nation

Published on August 14, 2008

National Disaster Warning Centre chief Smith Dhammasaroj yesterday urged residents in Samut Prakan and Bangkok to prepare for "the worst storm surge in 50 years".

I was hoping for some information and reassurance, from someone living in Bangkok or Samut Prakan, which I could pass on to my friend in Samut Prakan.

Instead I get a flippant remark about an ark from a Senior Member!

Tim, take a look at the Thai Meteorological website at www.tmd.go.th You can keep up to date with the weather and any storm or flood warnings. Good luck.

Do you mean this one?

11 days old.

And no time schedule.

There are so many flood warnings, that when it really happens, people are unprepared.
