I must say that EVA are the best. Excellent in economy in the more modern 777 but alas this aircraft only serves LHR 6 months per year - EVA only have 2 and the other 6 months they use the older 747 and the 777 goes to the US route - still very good an dI love them!!

I think your point on the 777's is very valid. I have no problem with EVA (I have flown them many, many times), but these days I will always choose a 777 or the Airbus equivalent over a 747. If that means a different carrier and I have to pay more, so be it. For me, peace of mind while in the air is very important and the price differential is never very much.

Yep likewise. Having flown lots of airlines EVA doesnt really compare to some of the best in the market eg singapore, emirates, gulf etc with attention to detail and spoiling u with luxury and service and mostly all new planes.

Though I love the big 747's its very hard to know how new and well maintained the aircrafts are and eva's 747 are pretty old. Whereas the 777 are newer planes as are the a340 etc. The new 787 and a350 would be the newest ones to hit the floor though obviously a380 is just coming out now too.

I am 6' 3" and always travel enchanced economy with Eva. Ams-Bkk still has Evergreen de Luxe which is far better than Elite Class. Wider seats and in a few seats limitless leg room. Big increase in fare and poor connections have made me revert to Lhr-Bkk. Still go Elite Class for 38" seat pitch as against 33" in Economy. :o
