Downloading Movies & Music In Los

Featured Replies

I'm wondering if you download movies, TV shows from your country and music. Can the companies file legal claims on you for downloading movies, TV shows & music and put a judgement on your assets in the states? Mostly I am interest is the TV shows that I can not get here in LOS.

If they are legal, nobody will lay a claim upon you. If it's illegal, Thai Visa is not a place to discuss this. :o

The copyright holders appear to be chasing those that seed the copyright material, rather than those that leech it. I am aware of a number of US based sites that host TV/movie content legally by paying the costs with adverts within the datastream, just like regular television, however those that I have looked at use IP filtering to limit viewing from with the USA.

I would suggest a P2P forum might better be able to debate the detail, that you seek.

Yeah, don't talk about downloading on a forum entitled 'Internet, computers, communication, technology in Thailand'.

Hi :o

It is an interesting question after all, i myself am also interested in that, specifically: What IS the legal situation if you want to obtain material that is unavailable in this country, legally that is.

For example said TV shows which are airing in the U.S. (for free obviously) and which are streamed on the web for everyone to watch (again for free!) however, via IP-filtering, again restricted to the U.S. I suppose these are NOT sold in DVD-form for anyone outside the U.S. to buy them legally via online-order.

Similar situation with music - if i like to listen to Turkish music (as an example) there is no way in he!l i can buy it here in a shop, or even download it from a legal site. It's just not being sold that way, full stop. So what am i to do? I *can* get it, of course, but what are the legal aspects as to "copyrights" etc, are those maybe valid (in case of said Turkish music) maybe only for Turkey and everywhere else i can download it?? Other examples are Russian or African music (which i am indeed listening to!) and many more (for example, the German "GEMA" does not care if i play (or copy!) GEMA-copyrighted music in my pub in Thailand, while doing the same in Germany i need to pay a license fee, similar to Karaoke operators here who only have to pay fees for Thai music).

I would appreciate a link to somewhere where this is explained.

@ the moderator: I do NOT want to discuss illegal file sharing or otherwise violate rules. I am only asking for information on the legality or lack thereof - to respect a law, one needs to know it first :D

Best regards......

I do not want to get any sites to download. I just want to know if it violate any laws in LOS doing it.
