Hi,

Anybody out there know the Thai name of Artemisia annua, also known as sweet wormwood, sweet annie or the chinese name: qīnghāo (which probably sounds like tsjing-haow) ??

It's a good medicine for malaria and other remedies and I am looking into the possibility of growing it myself.

note for the absinte folks:

It is not the same wormwood!

Hi Tracker

you might try MMS for Malaria. I got dengae which is similar to Malaria and was over it in 24 hrs. I have read of hundred being cured of Malaria within 24 hrs. See my post under Dengae Fever

The commercial preparation artesunate (available lovcally from Atlantic Labs) is madefrom artemisin.

Not sure why you would want to grow it yourself. If for business, the drug is already available and presumably patented.

If for personal use, how would you be sure of the quantity of active ingrediant? Stick with the commercial product which has been tested for active ingrediant.

Thanks for the replies!

When it comes the comparing "do it yourself" or commercial products:

It is for personal use. Not only for malaria, but Artemisia annua has a lot more to it than being a medicine for malaria.

How to know what to use? This is try and see method, and ofcourse you start with the lowest dose. Beforehand you inform yourself as much as you can, and start from there because the whole environment around the plant determines the active ingredients.

Trusting a medicine from commercial business does not line up with my opinion. Saw and read about too many mistakes and greed from the pharma industry.... enough to grow my own medicines. Besides, I like a herb garden!

Now, still do not know the thai name....

Neither do I, nor am I sure it grows in Thailand. It may need a more temperate climate. Grows in China, for example ,which is where its medicinal prtoperties were first discovered.

As it has long been used in traditional Chinese medicine it is possible, even if it does not grow in Thailand, that you might find dried preparations of it in the many Chinese medicine shops. Possibly they'd recognize the Chinese name.

Dengue is similiar to malaria in its symptoms but utterly unrelated in its pathology.

Malaria is due to the presence of a parasite within the red blood cell which destroys them...and, as such, a very dangerous disease. There are scientifically proven treatments available for it. MMS has not been scientifically proven to cure it, although there are anecdotal reports to that effect (most of them unclear as to even the type of malaria involved. -- there are 4 different types. ) Malaria should not be assumed but rather needs to be confiormed by blood smear; in addition the treatment required will vary with the specific type of malaria. Anyone whoi actually has malaria -- and especially if they have the falciparum form -- who fails to promptly treat with "conventional" medicine (which is highly effective for it) is taking a huge risk which may well cost them their life.

Dengue on the other hand is due to a virus, and there is as yet no cure. It is a self-limited disease and in its simple form, never fatal; it is only the complication of Hemorrgahic fever whioch is dangerous. For simple dengue, therefore, there is no danger in not receiving coinventional treatment. Whether or not MMS will help, has not been scientifically established, but then nothinmg else has been established to cure it either. In that case the issue with MMS would just be its safety, about which there is, IMO, insufficient information.

(This is in fact all off topic since the OP does not have any disease and was not seeking advice on treatment.)

Couldn't find A. annua, only A. vulgaris in Thai: โกฏจุฬาลำพา
