Done It Again........ Missed The 90 Window

Featured Replies

With work commitment pushing and the alarm feature not working in my mobile!!!!!!!!! I missed my 21st of August 90 meeting with local immigration staff.....

What the deal now in Chiangmai......... wait 'till December and do a runner through immigration and hope for the best.

Are the penalty's 500 per day which is no small penny if I head there now?

If you are refering to the 90 day report, the fine is 2,000 Baht.

Correct, full 2 year visa on BOI papers all correct.

Are you sure, I think it was the Chiangmai Mail claiming immigration had now moved it to 500 a day, or am I mistaking this with overstay?

500 Baht per day is for overstay. Missing (past the 7 day window) for 90 day reporting can be maximum of 5000 Baht but normally 2000 Baht is the penalty.

You can buy a lot of Archa for that. :D

As said the normal fine is 2,000 baht if you admit the mistake. But it can be 5,000 baht plus 200 baht per day (not clear when the 'day' count begins in law).

Thanks John, problem is I never close my computer....... out of work 6pm, in at 7am, dont want to waste the time waiting for the thing 20 minutes to reboot, it sleeps better this way. Might be some arguement for wasted electricity, but, well, no excuse, it's more convenient, and some would argue the restart cost more. I dont buy into this arguement, but some say leave airconditioners on over lunch as it costs more to recool a room, sort of the same thing but different.

Thanks to all those who replied,,,,, Jay

I tried different reminder systems but didn't really like them and had to pay a 2000 baht fine once. After that I bought a fairly small whiteboard and put it up in my kitchen. I write my next 90-day reporting date at the top of it in large noticeable letters and use the rest of it to keep an ongoing shopping list. This works great for me, and I haven't missed my reporting deadline since. (I also don't forget to buy as many items when doing my weekend shopping as I used to.)

I use a small, easy to use program called Simple Reminder for my 90 day report, insurance expiration, etc.

My Nokia mobile has a "Day Notes" function, with alarm. I put the 90 day reminder in about 5 or 6 times around the actual date. Can't miss it now!

I also run the "Sunbird" calendar/scheduler on my PC - it's in there, too.

Second time carelessness
