Latest Tot Promotion

Featured Replies

Usually the Missis is on top of any offers from TOT or for that matter any other company that’ll save a few Baht.

Well with the new baby and all that it was me who noticed another promotion that came with the phone bill this month.

The TOT promotion offered “Pro Speed” for 490bt per month at a speed of 1 Mbps (or 1000bt for 2 Mbps) Plus if you apply before Oct 1st the initial 1000bt fee will be waived and you get a Dual port free modem.

I am on their “Bestcyber” package at the moment that costs 590bt per month with as I understand it a line rate of 512kbps.

I don’t really fully understand this line rate thingy. Am I right in thinking that a speed of 1Mbps is better than 512kbps? :o

Especially if its 100bt cheaper. :D

Thanks.

Yup that's right its better :o

I don't think TOT sold their 512kbs package for some time now ....

The rates in the last months were:

1mbs 590 baht

2mbs 1000 baht

They obviously have lowered the first package to 490 baht now to draw in more customers. If you can afford the extra 500 baht, go for the 2Mbs.

you have the meg already 1024/512 i what your modem is saying.

DaffyD, look at the pics you've posted yourself .... it gives a line/rx/tx rate of 512 up/1024 down .... you already have 1Meg ...

Ahm! Yes that’s right I’m on the 1mb rate already. :D

I was not sure about the line rates that’s why I posted the pics. It threw me as I was under the impression that the download speed came first as in 256/128kbps.

The Missis called TOT and we, and seems everybody else, has been put onto the higher 1Mbps. Great! so why are my torrent speed still so low. I have done a couple of speed tests and the results were always in the 800kbps range so the speed is there.

Still have to go to the TOT office and register to get the 100bt per month reduction and free modem. :o

Am I missing something with the TOT business plan? Would it not have made more sense, instead of giving more speed AND reducing the monthly fee (good for us) to increase the speed to say 1.5 Mbps and keep the original fee that customers were already paying? Must be why I’m not the CEO of a big company with big salary and big office

:D

First, normally these prices are for new subscribers only .... Save yourself a trip to TOT ... Nah, why not ... give it a try! :o

Forget about Torrent .... I did. Slash out 8 dollars per month (6 months) and get a Rapidshare Premium account. You'll be happy you did.

Yes, you might be worthy of that big salary and office .... Let's increase everybody's bandwidth to 8Mbs ....... Pity there is not enough of it yet. :D

The Missis told them that we already had the 590bt ADSL, which was obvious anyway when she asked how to upgrade to the 1B for 490bt.

Seems no problem “come to the office and register” they said to get the lower monthly charge.

Still this is TIT so won’t spend the extra beer money till the deal is done.

:o

A little confused

I am on the goldcyber package and that is 2mb for 500 bht per month........... it was a 1000 bht per month but I read on Thai Visa recently that if I contacted TOT I could ask for the price reduction ( as opposed to them automatically giving it too all subscribers). Hey presto, same speeds for half the cash.......... and I get the full 2mb download speed with torrents ( I dont live in an over populated town of farangs)

So why are you paying 590 bht for 1mb ???

JAF

So if we are on the original 1000 baht a month offer, we don't get an automate speed upgrade of speed for the same money? So how to get the new speed if we are old customers? Need to bring in the modem?

Edited by Jingthing

to get the new promotion you need to sign again for a year, this is what they call "come and register".

" TOT launched a "TOT Pro Speed" activity to satisfy provincial internet customers. In this activity, TOT provided a mobile service team to facilitate customers who wish to apply for TOT hi-speed internet service. There are technician teams who are ready to provide installation and advisory service once applications made. In July 08, Mr.Noppanat Hutacharoen, TOT's Senior Executive Vice President led the mobile service team to visit customers.

"Pro Speed" , a TOT hi-speed internet's promotion, gives you good prices: 490 baht a month for a speed of 1 Mbps and 1,000 baht for 2 Mbps.

Apply now to October 31, 08, a 1000 - baht initial fee will be waived and you will get a Dual Port Modem free, plus 3 additional applications: TOT magic click, PANDA Anti Virus, and TOT netcall. "

This is what I got from TOT website. If I am a new subscriber (and go to TOT), will I get 500bt/month for 2Mbps (plus 1000bt initial fee, a dual port modem, and the 3 appplications?)

No, the offer of 500 bht per month is for existing customers............ you are a new subscriber and get a modem and software hence the price increase.......nothing is free really as you have just found out.

Maybe after 6-12 months you can reapply and get the promtion then

Sorry, I am as confused as some of the others. It seems that you are saying the offer is for upcountry and not Bangkok. I am in Bangkok and am paying TOT, THB 590 for 1mb. Can I get 2 mb from TOT for roughly the same price in Bangkok?

Thanks.

I think the offer that you have is an introductory offer for first time subscribers. I have been a customer with TOT for over 2 years and was paying 1000 bht per moth for 2mb download and 512 upload. I read on this forum that I could get the same deal for 500 bht per month, but I had to go into the office and sign up again.

Whether this offer is available to you is highly unlikely seeing as they gave you a free modem and software too. So as I said, maybe after 12 months or so, you can reapply again.

Hope this makes it clearer

It does, thanks. I really don't mind the THB 100 or so, but the speed is my real problem. This I am discussing on another thread to keep it apples with apples. Thanks again.
