Saroj is endorsed as new foreign minister

BANGKOK: -- Saroj Chavanavirat becomes new foreign minister of Samak Government on Monday after being given royal endorsement on Monday.

Saroj, 66, is the third foreign minister of Samak Government in seven months.

He was a former permanent secretary for foreign affairs and ex-ambassador to France.

He replaced Tej Bunnag, also a former permanent secretary for foreign affairs, who resigned last week.

Thailand is in urgent need of foreign minister as it is currently holder of the rotating chairmanship of the Asean grouping and it is scheduled to host ministerial and summit meeting of the grouping this year.

What will he do about Thaksins diplomatic passport?

What will he do about Thaksins diplomatic passport?

It has all gone quiet on the fugitive with diplomatic passport front.

Interesting interview with Tej just before he resigned where he said if he were put under politcal pressure to do something by the PPP he would resign. Wonder if it was just a comment or whether it was indeed prophetic
