I was having problems with my T43p Thinkpad. I had emailed IBM and amazingly they answered within an hour or so and gave me a Thailand toll free number. I emailed them back and told them I couldn't use the toll free number with my hand phone. They answered and told me no problem, that they would call me. They called and After a lot of questions asked me to take it to Bangkok. I told them I lived in Loei and Bangkok was too far to go. I ended up with a choice of Khon Kaen, Pitsanulok or Udon Thani. I took it to Udon Thani. He wasn't able to fix it while I waited because he had no parts. Two days later he called and told me I could pick it up anytime. I picked it up today. It now has a new motherboard. I tested it, signed the work order and headed for home. No charge. The three year international warranty is indeed good. The machine is two and a half years old.

Thanks to those who tried to help me with the problem.

Very good recommendation Gary. I remember some of your original posts but am I right in thinking you purchased this outside of Thailand ?

Yes, I bought it while visiting the US. I was assured that there was a three year international warranty, but you know how that goes. The dealer registered the machine for me and I was surprised it showed up immediately as still being under warranty.

My previous laptop was a 600 Thinkpad and it ran for about seven years without any problems before the keypad died. A Thai friend of mine is STILL using it with a remote keyboard.
