Anyone can point me in the right direction, I live in the Buriram area and would like to know where I would need to go to get proof of residence.

Your closest immigration office, not sure where that is for your area though.

Bring along rental contract or house papers...

I get proof of residence from the immigration office in KAP CHEUNG about 130 km from Buriram

frrom BURIRAM you drive to SURIN , then PRASAT next KAP CHEUNG near the cambodian border at CHOM CHOM

you need rental contract or house papers and one foto
