Hi All,

Just a bit confused as to when the 9 months start. I have read a few previous threads which indicate it's from when she arrives in Australia but on the IMMI website it says it's from the visa grant date. So any ideas to which is correct?

Also my fiance has a 3 year old child which is not yet included in the application but was given a choice to bring the relevant paper work with her on the interview date next month if she wishes to so my question is if she does that now does the child have to enter Australia within a certain time or can it be years later? If she does it at a later date I am under the impression we will need to pay another $1,420?

Would it be possible to extend the 9month timeframe once she arrives in Australia or is that set in concrete?

Thanks

From the date of the grant, I believe.

The child can be included for free on the mothers application, if you bring the child over separately then it will be as a separate application and fees will apply.

I believe my wife's fiancé visa started from the day she entered Australia, the entrance into Australia had to be before the planned wedding date. Although her visa was for 6 months.

Once married we had to show the paperwork to the immigration office where she was then issued with the 2 year multiple entry visa.

one's your wife enters Australia you have 9 months to get married ( this was the rule 5 years ago ) and I believe it is still the same :o If you not get married in that time your wife can be deported saying that I am not an expert on todays laws. About your child I am not to sure my wife had no children when we applied for that visa. But I am sure your wifes visa is not for six month because they give you 9 months to get married.

Well prove me wrong there is no such thing as a multiple 2 year visa in Australia, ones you get married, your wife get's a fianc'e visa this allows her to stay in Australia and she can apply for a permanent visa which takes 2 years and she can leave Australia as many times as she likes. ( just informe the immigration department )

from the website.....

What does the visa let me do?

With this visa, you:

must enter Australia before you marry your fiance(é)

may leave and re-enter Australia as many times as you wish before your visa ceases (nine (9) months after visa grant) can work in Australia

can apply for a Spouse visa in Australia after you marry your fiance(é)

can study, but you will not have access to government funding

may use Australia's medical expenses and hospital care assistance scheme, Medicare, but only if you are in Australia and have already applied for a Spouse visa.

Once married she must apply for a spouse visa.....if granted she then holds a temporary resident visa....two years after that she maybe granted a permanant residents visa.
