Ie 8 Beta Is Converting Me To Firefox

Been trying out the new IE8 Beta but I’m having so many dropped connections and reloads that I’ve been using Firefox just to get something done.

I’m not a great Firefox fan but have it installed as a try out. I like familiarity of IE and don’t really want to change but unless they fix the bugs in IE8 I will revert to IE7 or stay with Firefox.

No Need to Feel :D .

IE8 is a BETA... BETA means "Not Ready for Prime time".

If you don't want a work in progress, stay with IE7 and wait for the FINAL release of IE8.

It's not MS fault if you download and try and use a Beta and expect perfection.

Same with the new Google Chrome.

If the Final is still buggy... then you have a right to complain, but not before.

BETA = User Beware!!!!!

IE8 beta is terrible so far, I have it set in compatibility mode on my kids' computer...

Having said that, IE7 has been acting up lately on my own computer after downloading some M$ updates... at the moment I definitely prefer FF but Chrome is interesting...

I don't really like the way Firefox works, and I definately don't like ie7. I just bought a new hard drive and new Ram, and had my windows XP reloaded, and it comes with ie6 which works good.

Unfortunately I found that once you download ie7 you cannot go back to 6.

I'm 90% sure that I read somewhere, that if you uninstall IE7, then you end up with IE6 by default.

Maybe you can Google it and confirm.

Microsoft converted me to FF many years back and I won't be using IE again for foreseeable future. IE8 is beta and so still a joke, FF3 is final and superior in all ways to IE7 and anyone using IE6 which is as unsafe as going bareback in a brothel doesn't know what they are doing or has limited needs for the net imho. It's only cleaver marketing by M$ that is why over 50% of the market still belongs to them in the browser wars.

I am running windows xp on a desktop and am having problems with the IE Beta and wish I had not downgraded to it. Google Chrome works best for most things but occasionally I need to use Firefox 3.01 works when Chrome doesn't work for a particular website. Firefox 3.1 may exceed them all when released.

I have been a faithful Firefox user for quite a while.......however, what is going on lately???

I can open only some pages/links. I have 2 computers, one XP pro, the other Linux and both are the same. For example, can open Ebay, but try and click on a link to an item and the page won't load. Tried IE and works no problem!

Man, I sure hope I don't have to go back to IE...... :o

Interesting article in Bangkok Post Database today.

If you install IE8 beta 2 on Win XP SP3 there's no turning back

JAMES HEIN

If you are a Windows XP fan, and have installed Service Pack 3, be careful about trying Internet Explorer 8 (IE8) beta 2. You won't be able to go back to IE8 Beta 1 if you are having problems. There is an MS warning about this problem that basically locks down your XP SP3 machine after installing IE8 B2. In fact they recommend that you uninstall IE8 B1 before upgrading to IE8 B2 if you have installed XP SP3. You also will not be able to uninstall XP SP3 or IE8.

There is a warning "if you choose to continue, Windows XP SP3 and IE8 Beta 2 will become permanent." So Microsoft's latest version of IE is still having some problems and the final version of IE8 is due January 2009. So my advice is to either wait for a later version of IE8 or just upgrade to Firefox 3 and get the pain out of the way. Also if you are thinking that I decided to report this so that I could use so many acronyms you'd probably be right.
