Sending Picture And Text Messages To Uk From Tland

Featured Replies

Hello

Hope somebody can help.

Can anyone advise as to whether its possibe to send picture messages and text messages to the uk from a pay as you go mobile phone in thailand.

Last time my missus got a "12call" sim card in LOS, but couldnt seem to send me messages when she was in thailand, and I was back in the UK, although she recvd my messages.

She is back in the UK now, and would like to send pic and text messages to family, and receive pic and text messages from family back home.

Can anyone recommend a way of making this, "probably quite simple, but proving quite difficult" task workable??????????

Thanks in advance people.

Have you droped the prefix 009/008 ??? you use for cheap calling rate's, if you don't drop these number's AIS still charge you 10 baht per txt, but it does'nt go through,

just dial 0044 then the number as normal, remember to drop the zero on the uk code.

Set your phone's message setting's to give you a delivery report for each txt this way you can look up in your menu if they have been recieved ok.

MMS ? i'm not to sure about, i've never used it, i would think it quite expensive i send photo's via e mail/msn or skype for free.

Regards Shaun

Hi as the previous poster says just use +44 the the number you want to send to dropping the first 0. I can send and recieve MMS messages on my pay as you go AIS no problems. Nothing like sending a picture me hard at work teaching a bevvy of beautiful ladies to dive on the dive boat to the guys back home working on a freezing cold construction site. :o

Sounds like the problem is you didn't buy the phone you're trying to use to send MMSs in Thailand. If this is the case, it's unlikely to have the GPRS & MMS settings for AIS. The easiest way to get them is to call customer service on 1175. They will send you a browser message with the settings and - if your phone is reasonably modern - you should just be able to just select 'install' and the phone will do it all for you. If for some reason this doesn't work out (it's not uncommon), here's the settings which you'll need to figure out how to enter manually, depending on what phone you have:

- Name : AIS GPRS

- Homepage : http://wap.mobilelife.co.th

- Service Type1 : WAP

- Proxy 1 : 203.170.229.034

- Port1 : 9201

- GPRS APN : wap

For MMS, change the service name to AIS MMS. The settings are all the same
