Featured Replies

Got the 800K in my bank friday, 19th, so what are my chances of getting a 1 year retirement renewal on monday? anybody got through this 3 month seasoning rule yet without the required 800k in the bank?

Thanks, Lickey.

Depends on which immigration office you will be using.

It seems that the 3 months rule (if I recall correctly started last year) is only followed gradually (they warn you to have it in for 3 months next time).

As your period of stay is up on Monday 22, you can only chance it and see what happens unless you could obtain a letter of income from your Embassy as then the 3 months in bank rule does not or should not apply.

In Kap Cheong even for the Embassy letter (it use dot be ok to show original and keep it only giving a signed copy) they now keep the original (even very old one) but tell you to come up with a new one next year. They also do the same for first timer renewals with 800k since the 3 months rule started.

Good luck

Yes. All you can do is give it a try. They all enforce the rules differently.

Which Immigration office will you be using for the application?

The requirement to have 800K Baht in the bank for 3 months only applying to the FIRST retirement extension has been much discussed. I was personally told at Jomtien Immigration two weeks ago that this is the case (although they did advise having it in the account for perhaps two weeks before the application, so you will be really pushing the limit).

Please post your experiences on Monday as we have had very few reports from people who have actually followed this route.

Thanks, and good luck.
