The number of Macau casinos has more than doubled to 29 since the government ended the 40-year monopoly held by billionaire Stanley Ho. Macau awarded gaming licenses to new operators, including Wynn, in 2002.

Macau earnings were boosted by a 75 percent surge in table gambling by VIPs, defined as those who spend at least 1 million patacas ($124,000) each visit, Wynn said.

These gamblers, who are ferried to casinos by junket operators, accounted for 67 percent of Macau's total gaming revenue last year, up from 63 percent in 2006, according to the city government. Authorities, seeking to curtail unsustainable growth, are restricting visas to limit mainland Chinese visits to the territory.

Wynn Macau Revpar rose 9.9 percent to $244 in the second quarter, with occupancy at 87.9 percent, from 86.2 percent a year earlier.

and its not just the rich..average chinese are going there also.. even here in las vegas has lost foreign tourists why come here when they can go to a shorter trip to china 5 star hotels..shows..food..i think thailand is in real trouble..since without foreigners a huge part of their economy..2009 and beyond will look even worse then it is now.

Macau is definitely a fast rising star, and will continue to rise

How is the entertainment, meaning shows, water & beaches, nightlife, compared to LOS?
