Moving Company Within Thailand

Featured Replies

I searched the old posts on moving companies within Thailand and came up with a couple of reputable companies that offered reasonable rates. However, the rates that I have been quoted are close to RIDICULOUS!!!

For a move from Bangkok to Phuket (contents of a 1 bedroom apartment):

Asian Tigers Transpo = 50,000 baht

?? Thailand Movers = 44,000 baht

I've had my wife doing all the contact hoping to get Thai prices, but these are unbelievable. We have already boxed everything and do not need packing services or anything and it's still this high! These are actual on paper, detailed quotes!

Even on the street, we found a large truck, not covered, that wanted 20,000!!!

Any help would be appreciated.

yeah, but it isn't covered... they can put a tarp over it. If it rains....

Also, no insurance or guarantee that my stuff will even get there. No company name, not even an email address. To me it seems like giving someone 20,000 baht to steal my stuff. The 20,000 seemed like a deal until I thought about it. I'm looking for a company that is no frills, but is an actual company. The only choices that seem to exist are either top notch full service moving companies aimed at the expat on an expat salary and well to do Thai's or back alley trucks where who knows what you'll get or even if you get it at all.

There must be a moving company for the average joe out there.

Four Winds are another one but they will likely be expensive too.

I used a local truck from off the street and drove behind him on my move.
