Finally Gave Up On The Bad Connection Speeds

Featured Replies

So having a 1 meg and a seperate 2 meg line i was able to look at the speeds that they both had on speedtest - both wree useless outside of thailand with speeds some days of 30k !!

Finally given in and upgraded to an "international" line. Pathetic that you need to pay extra for the rest of the world but there you go.

Much better speeds and more consistent as well.

I can't imagine any one just wanting to surf Thailand.

How much extra was it for International?

I have a laptop and am constantly on line in 4 different locations around Thailand and have no landlines. I am signed up with 1-2 call GPRS service, costs me B350 for 100 hours a month while speeds are not fantastic is suffices except to upload large image files, which I just resize from 2.5 mb to a usuable 180 kb. My speed seems to be consistent day or night or where I am located.

150 kbps down and 85 up.

upgrade was 4k baht a month with csloxinfo for a proper 1 meg line

not as bad as it seems as now i have no need to make international calls back to the UK as i can use the skype to call back for free so the reduction in the mobile bill will cover the cost of the line, plus its now a proper connection (well at least for here) anyway

You're probably unlucky in that there is no CAT ADSL in your area.

Now a tad over 2000 Baht/month for a 2M/1M line, dedicated cable to your house etc.

Churns out a very reliable 1700 kbps/650 kbps tested on whatever server you fancy worldwide.

Very low latency (pings around 200-220 msec to the US) so excellent VOIP quality.

How can I find out if there is a CAT ADSL in my area? And what would I need to do to get one?? I live on Petchasem Road (69) is this available to me? I want to play games online with my buddies from the UK!

Find the closest CAT office! No idea where they are in Bkk, but they do not have proper on-line coverage info, so actually walking into the office and asking is the only way.

They are excellent for gaming due to one of the lowest latencies you'll ever see over here...
