Maxnet Censoring Youtube Again?

Featured Replies

As of yesterday, I can no longer access YouTube. I now get the familiar "access denied" page, instead:

accessdeniedoa7.th.jpg

I am requesting all Maxnet users to do a quick ipconfig check and report back what you see. Here's what my computer now says:

ipconfigxs5.th.jpgthpix.gif

Tidnet.com resolves to

64.202.163.202

which is somewhere in the USA.

Using Allwhois, I determined the registrant's name (only) to be a one Craig L. Tidwell, with GoDaddy hiding the rest.

Googling that and tidnet.com gives me nothing except this out-of-date, bullsh!t "info" page of some sort of supposed I.T. expert:

http://www.tidnet.com/last_month.htm

which leads me to believe that tidnet.com may be intended for "other" uses...

Any experts out there know what to make of this??

time to remove the dns server you use and get the ones from maxnet ;-)

Obtaining DNS server address was set to "automatic".

I got the primary and secondary from Maxnet's support page

http://www.maxnet.co.th/technical_faq.php

202.69.137.137

202.69.137.138

punched them in, reset my connection and... it made no difference.

Access to YouTube still denied.

Other ideas?

Try 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220 (OpenDNS)

you forgot a part of the problem, you checked the dns inside the routeur but not those of your windows connection to the routeur.

Thanks. I tried the OpenDNS ones and I still get the same "Access Denied" page for YouTube.

Also, why does my Connection-specific DNS Suffix specify tidnet.com (which, again, is in the US) and not Maxnet?

(BTW, I'm on a wireless, shared 1Mb/3Mb connection in an apt building)

Windows connection to the router(s) is via wireless card. I normally have three hall routers to choose from. No difference with any of them.

Since this isn't my acct, I would have to rely on apt personnel to help and they are basically unqualified.

So, I am still stumped about this.

I'm on Maxnet and Youtube works just fine. Perhaps you got some malware/spyware on your system playing with your host file. A "tidnet" seach on google isn't conclusive, but shows some spyware/malware links: http://www.google.com/search?q=tidnet&...-8&oe=UTF-8

could you give us the result of ipconfig /all please?

the fact you use a wireless card or a wired connection is not a relevant point as both can be configured manually to use other dns(this is in windows network property).

Well, as it turns out, I was able to have someone else check their connection and the same problem was evident (access to YouTube denied).

So, a call was made to Maxnet this afternoon detailing the problem to them (in their native language) and this evening I can happily report that the problem has been resolved.

I also no longer see "tidnet.com" reported as the Connection-specific DNS Suffix upon doing an ipconfig check. It is now blank.

So, maybe the problem was somehow with my local Maxnet provider and their servers. Your guess is as good as mine.

If anyone has an idea of what exactly was involved I'd be interested to hear it. Otherwise, thanks for all your suggestions.
