Hi Brian :o

Hope you enjoy Thailand and you will see as many westerners (Ferangs) as Thai's if you stay in Pattaya. I dont mean to disparage Patters (I like going there once in a while) but you may want to also consider a visit out into the countryside, it has some very interesting sites.

If you don't mind sharing it with us; why are you going to Pattaya?

I only ask because if it's beautiful beach you want there are many less crowded places close to Bangkok.

If you want to see a lot of rude, drunken Westerners I can't think of a better place to go, except maybe Pat Pong.

If you've never been to Thailand and need some suggestions, just ask.

Brian,

Dont be put off going to Pattaya based on what the self opinionated, anally retentive, miserable old b*st*rds on TV tell you, it will be fun, you will enjoy it..

OK Brian, you just found out: Fasten your seat-belts because Thai visa will be all over you. :D

Im far from self opiionated, Not anally retentive and people tell me Im quite amusing oh and not an old b'stard either. Saying that I still think Pataya the sh*&s and far from what Thailand is all about. Yes go there and its guarenteed you will have a ball and most likely fall in love with the place, meet a girl in the bar ,go home and sell everything and come back and buy her a house. There are far cheaper places to stay for 3 months and you will still have fun. Enjoy your holiday wherever you end up :o

Brian, there are a lot of folks on ThaiVisa that know about absolutely everything that's bad about Pattaya. The strange thing is that most of them have never been there and those that have only admit to a few hours or maybe one day. It's living proof that some folk can hunt out the sleaze super fast all on their own and then complain about it. There is a lot of sleaze in Pattaya but then there is a lot to do that isn't. Shame these Pattaya bashers spend so much of their time in the sleaze that they miss the good bits.

Dec to Mar indicates a stay of 3 months + which, despite loving the place, I would say is too long. Arriving Dec, pre Christmas, I'd say stay in Pattaya for the Xmas party then move north to Chiang Mai for new year and stop a few weeks. After that go to Bangkok for a week or so and then south to Samui and/or Phuket for a couple of weeks. Then make a plan for the remainder of you trip but, as you are new to Thailand, see as much as you can.

My ex wanted to go Patthaya for 2 days but he never make it, cuz he stuck at Sukhumvit Soi 5 instead and never return home.

Think its difficult to get there. :D

Be careful :o
