Overstay And Re-entering Thailand On A Tourist Visa

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have an overstay at the moment for quite a time, and will pay the fine of 20000 bath at the airport in Bangkok shortly, on my way home.

A long story, but I havent had any choice in the matter, so it was unaviodable.

However, I wonder if some of you have any experience in the matter, when it comes to re-entering Thailand again shortly.

Obviously I can not do this on a 30 days visa because of the 6 month rule, but I am going to apply for a tourist visa again, for 2 months.

Or at least, that is the plan.

Does anyone know if I can or will be be turned down because of my 20000 bath overstay, 5 months by the way?

Will it be hard for me to get a tourist visa in the future?

I have got a few tourist visas before, and I have 2 heavy overstays during a period of 5 years, both within the same passport.

Anyone with any experience?

Would it be a solution to renew my passport, and start fresh? Or will everything be registered by computer, so that wont help?

Thanks for answering.

No problem coming back. Lots of reports on this. Link to one:http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/15-Month-Overstay-t210694.html

No problem on the 30 day entry thats only if you have left and come back on one for a total of 90 days in six months.

If you come back again I hope you have learned your lesson and don't do it again.

Thanks, I hope there will be no problem.

And it wont be a next time, this experience has certainly not been a good one.

I am still uncertain about what my overstay will meen for an ordinary 30 days visa, since I have done my 2 time visarun to Cambodia, in addition to extending my tourist visa before my period of no visa extension for 5 months.

That is, I have done my 90 days here, and then 5 months more on my own, before paying my share at the airport.

So my guess is that I can not re-enter Thailand the next 90 days without a tourist visa.

Am I right?

Thanks man, the link was helpful :o

I am truly amazed that there have been no replys similar to the ones on the link I provided. But maybe its because you came back with the reply you did.

I am not sure either about coming back on a 30 day visa exempt. By the rules you should be ok since you didn't come in on a 30 day that put you at the 90 day point. I think they would let you in but it might mean some questions from immigration when they go back through your passport looking to see if you have reached the 90 day mark.

A tourist visa is probably advisable. Anyway at least you wouldn't have to worry about a border run if you decide to stay longer than 30 days.

Hope you really mean it when you say that it won't happen again.

Good Luck

Joe
