This has probably been answered a hundred times but I can't find any threads covering it. Can I report to immigration every 90 days rather than do border runs on a 12 months Non-Immigrant 'o' visa? Thanks in advance.

No. You have a mulitple entry visa and must leave the country every 90 days.

Edit:

Only option to avoid 90 day border runs is to apply for an extension of stay for 1 year. If you meet the qualifications.

It depends on what was stamped in your passport when you arrived.

If that stamp is for 90 days, you can extend it for one year, if you can meet the necessary conditions,

otherwise you must do a border run.

If the stamp in your passport is for 365 days, then you must report to Immigration every 90 days.

However if you leave and return with a re-entry stamp the 90 day clodck restarts.

Sadly it's a 90 day stamp. What are the necesarry conditions to extend it to 1 year? Or can you point me towards the right thread? Thanks for the replies.

There are three options:

1. If you are 50 or more years old

2. Married to a Thai

3. Have a job and work permit

Which do you come in?

Swedish citizens have to be 55 years of age at point one if I apply for a non-o in Sweden,, I dont know why the rules differs from other nationalities in Europe for ex.

But If I am for ex. 52 years i can arrive on tourist visa and convert to a non-o at an immigration office then I can apply for a one year extension here whithout problem.
