7 Day Extension Still Given On 30 Day Stamp?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I may to have overstay my 30 days on arrival by 6 or 7 days. Do they still give a 7 day extension? It's more convenient than leaving the country and re-entering.

Thanks in advance.

not without an outbound ticket in your hand, and then it is not automatic.

Correct plus cost is 1900 baht.

7 days they will give you , ticket or not ticket. If you no have ticket in your hand what do they do? Do they arrest you?

This is a boring story.

Don't know about other cities, but I've never heard that Suan Phlu requires tickets ..... So if you extend on the expiry date, you're not even on overstay. The chances are even high they will give you an extension, if you apply AFTER the expiry date and pay overstay.

To digress...does anyone else still remember when you used to be able to go to immigration and ask for a two week extension on a 30 day tourist visa (not a stamp on entry)? You had to pay a fee, and they put an entry into your passort that read, "This case is under consideration. Please return in 14 days." They never officially gave you an extension, just deferred consideration of your request for 14 days. As I recall you could do this twice (as long as you paid the fee each time), and the third time they would stamp in your passport that you must leave in 14 days. That let you get 72 days (30 plus 3x14 days) on a 30 day tourist visa.

Older and simpler times in those days. (1976 or 1977, I believe)

:D

That's a bit before my time on a visa. A couple years before then I was here and only needed my ID card and a set of orders.

The only time I ever got a 7 day extension was back in Jan. of 1997.

Its the same now as then only the price is higher.
