Hi there,

Planning to go to Thailand for awhile from Canada. Need help filling out the forms. I've emailed the Thai embassy over a week ago for some help since they don't pick their phone here. I'm applying for a tourist visa. Can somebody explain to me what the difference is for singe and double entry? Do i have to show them proof of a ticket out of Thailand for the tourist visa? I want to buy a one way ticket.

On to the Applications. It asks "Duration of Stay". I don't know how long i will be staying so do i just leave this blank? The other question is "Countries for which travel document is valid". What document are they talking about? My passport? The visa?

Anyway, i was talking to somebody about this. I'm a Canadian citizen but was not born here. Was born in Laos. He was saying if i leave Canada for more then a year that i will forfeit my citizenship to Canada. Is this true? Tried looking looking for this info on google and the immigrations site but i cannot find it. I never heard of this. Thanks in advance.

Single entry is for one entry, max time 60 days

Double entry allows 2 entries, max 60 days per entry

Not unless the embassy is asking to see a return ticket.

There is no requirement once you reach Thailand

Just put 60 or 120 days depending on whether you choose Single or Double Entry

The other question is "Countries for which travel document is valid". What document are they talking about? My passport? The visa?

They are asking about your passport. I guess a Canadian passport is valid for ALL countries

I have friends who are second nationality Canadians.

They seem to live outside Canada without any problems. :o

Single entry mean 60 days of stay, dubble entry means 2 times 60 days allowed to stay. After 60 days you have to elave the country and can come right back in for your second stay. Note that each stay can be extended by 30 days at an immigration office for 1,900 baht.

On a visa you d not need a return ticket.

For a double entry state over 60 days.

Countries valid they mean your passport.

Single entry is that you can enter one time for up to 60 days. Two is that you can enter Thailand for up +to 60 days twice.

Not sure what price per entry is in Canada but its based upon 1000 baht per entry.

Also a tourist visa can be extended for 30 days at immigraiton here at any immigration office.

For duration of stay I normaly put how ever long Visa is good for 60 days in this case.

Have you tried thier web site I don't know which consualte is nearest to you. Link is world wide list of consulates.

http://www.mfa.go.th/web/2712.php

Note: If l clicking link doesn't work copy and paste to browser. Links not working tonight.

You might not need the round trip ticket it depends upon the consulate.

I can't answer your last question but somebody else may be able to help.

Edit: You got your anwers more thans once apparently we were all typing at the same time.

Yes I've tried emailing and calling the consulates and embassy. For some reason they don't answer the phone. Just prerecorded msgs telling me where and how to apply. Then telling me to leave my name and number so they can get back to me. Non of this has worked so far. I'd like to thank everybody for the quick responses. Thank you.
