Puzzles From Singapore

Featured Replies

My brother sent me this one. Here is a little 'test' that is (supposedly) part of a second grade Computer class in China. Some figure it out right away. Others report having to work on it for a week (or more) to solve it.

Frog Leap Test

Best wishes: Two days and I am still working on it.

Interesting. Took me less than a minute.

I've used it as part of an introduction to algebra with a year six class in England. About a fifth of the children were able to solve the problem within ten minutes. There's a pattern in the moves if you look closely enough.

Interesting- it took me 3 tries and about 1-2 minutes. The first try was learning the rules. After that I could 'feel' the pattern but not produce it, and the third time it seemed obvious.

Amazing that grade 2 kids can do it though

I'm out of the loop "UK education - wise". What is a year six class?
