I'm happy to give a demonoid invite in exchange There are no invites for Avistaz, they don't use them. I'm quite surprised they closed registrations, since there was no warning (that I saw) they were going to do so. Maybe the tracker just reached its limit. Anyway, according to the forum, registrations will automatically re-open whenever the amount of registered users falls below 99,999. It's currently standing at 122,222, so I wouldn't hold your breath, but it's probably worth checking the home page regularly.

YoungerBrother
After having had received a Demonoid invitation code myself from user Mr. Slip last year via this very thread, I'd like to share three(3) invitation codes myself. Please post here with some examples of what your are going to upload to demonoid com, such that I will not get banned by inviting you. From their website Please note: To avoid abuse, invitations are limited. Also, if someone you invite gets warned/banned, you might get warned/banned too. BTW, I have uploaded a mere 14 GB so far. Many people contribute much more, but I don't have the time. Tomorrow is my day off, so I'll PM the codes on Monday. Thanks for sharing. surface
Demonoid does not check or care about your ratio/uploads. Their system for measuring it is so borked it's far from accurate anyway. I honestly haven't seen much on there that isn't on TPB with more seeds/peers anyway. Other private trackers though are worth using and have hard to find content. CosmicSurfer
I quote a Post from a forum that I subscribe to: "theres is a new site on the go called movietorrents.org they have virtually everything that you are looking for and if they dont have it they will get it for youthere speeds are amazing there all useing seedboxes 1 gig and 100 mbit seedboxes , there register is currently open for the min but dont know how long for so if you wanna join a fast site for new releases and speed join... movietorrents.org " Registration has been open for a while.... But I think it still is open now. Act fast. (NOTE: Downloads may be fast, but I find their site web pages very slow opening.) CosmicSurfer
The problem with Private Trackers is maintaining a good ratio.... All I ever download from them is old stuff with limited demand... coupled with the slow upload speed of TRUE, (512) leaves little time to get a good ratio before the threats to be banned start arriving. The only way to beat this seems to be to Upload something yourself... and not only be a Leech/Seeder. Now if I can get the "passthepopcorn" Upload page to work, and I can beat the deadline to get an ISO file uploaded before the sky falls in on my Account... All will be fine again... MKAsok
All I ever download from them is old stuff with limited demand... There's your problem right there. The big advantage with private trackers (specialist ones anyway) is the kind of very rare stuff you can't find anywhere else, but, unfortunately, you're going to have to download some newer, and thus more popular stuff (yes, I mean stuff you might not even want) to build ratio. When you first sign up with a private tracker, don't go grabbing loads of old stuff that's going to potentially take months to seed back and be dead weight on your hard drive. Build a healthy buffer first using popular stuff and freeleech (wherever possible - pretty much all trackers have them in one form or another). Build a healthy buffer first using popular stuff and freeleech (wherever possible - pretty much all trackers have them in one form or another). Question: Does Freeleech seeding contribute to your Upload Ratio? I'm not sure about this. Downloading new stuff is still a gamble, as it's hard to predict what will be popular or not... also watching my seeding, I'm finding that being in Thailand, few leeches are tracking me.. especially if there are many other seeders... This compounded with the SLOW Upload speed of TRUE, limits uploads period. The only answer I can come up with is to invest in a 1T drive or larger, so I can store the downloads longer. (Next week) Right now I'm attempting to upload a Torrent to passthepopcorn.... The upload timed out with IE8... No response from the upload page at all with Firefox... Finally got some action with Google Chrome.... at about 24 kb/s I've uploaded around 250 MBs of a 2.75GB iso file... (Black Sunday, 1977 ) This has been uploading for about 2 hours now.... So, if my computer doesn't crash or lose the connection, the upload should be finished in about 20 more hours of continuos connection... and to maintain maximum bandwidth I have uTorrent closed, and limiting my browsing to essentials.... What a Pain! Makes it almost more viable to stick with Public Trackers and forget the Private ones... I can find almost all I need on Demonoids and Pirate's Bay.. with the odd use of Sumo, Mininova, etc... But I trust the Private ones to have cleaner content, and be more secure.... At least Demonoids doesn't seem to care about Ratios too much.... Time will tell where I end up... But if I can't pass the muster on passthepopcorn, I doubt I can do it anywhere else, as they have such a large library of content to choose from. I'll keep you updated about my trials and hopefully success. CS
MKAsok
Question: Does Freeleech seeding contribute to your Upload Ratio? I'm not sure about this. Yes, always. (Next week) This is why it's important to know the 'character' of whatever tracker you're dealing with. Spend some time in the forums before you even get out of the period where ratio applies to you. Get a feel for the place. After a while you should be able to determine what sort of stuff, specifically, is going to result in a feeding frenzy as soon as it hits the tracker. Getting access to the Top 10 stats is going to help you enormously, so that's something to aim at. And, again, freeleech is your friend; a decent external HD is going to be your best friend. Don't expect to seed back anything quickly. Most private trackers are a long-term proposition and require patience. As far as your upload speed is concerned, you're in the same boat as most people. Yes, you are initially going to be competing with seedboxes and people with insane bandwith, but they will tend to drop off quickly, since they seed back very fast. I have the same upload speed as you: around 50K, and I'm in Thailand, yet my ratio on most trackers I use regularly is around 10.0. On one it's over 20.0. So it's by no means impossible. Cap your download speed (even to 1 or 2k if you have to); make sure you've got always got something seeding (that's actually uploading) that's going to mitigate your download and keep your ratio stable; make good use of uTorrent's bandwidth allocation settings. Right now I'm attempting to upload a Torrent to passthepopcorn.... Can't say I've ever had such a problem with Firefox and I up a lot of stuff (mostly to What CD and Waffles). It sounds like you're having to take desperate measures to stop yourself getting kicked off the tracker. The answer to this is don't dig yourself into a ratio hole in the first place: wait, be patient, stop downloading stuff - it will most likely still be there later (this is one of the major pluses of private trackers - stuff stays seeded for a very long time). This is a common problem with people who are used to public trackers: remember the situation is reversed on private trackers - lots of seeders, few leechers. Yes, most of the time you can find what you want on public trackers: so don't waste your private tracker ratio on stuff like this. Always check Mininova first and see if what you're after is indexed there. Chances are it is. Most of the 0-Day 'scene release' crap on general private trackers you can find on Demonoid anyway. Only use private trackers for stuff you absolutely can't find anywhere else... This is kind of the whole point.

ernest1966
I use free trackers at the moment and for "old" stuff I buy 120gig of d/l from usenet, $25.Which I can use as I wish. Still do about 100gig a month... I can handle it, sniff, it's under control, honest. Ernest
webfact
Will it expire if you don't use it within a certain period of time? I used a service with almost the same name and for some reason couldn't use the 5o GB I had just purchased. The unused volume was not transferred into the next month and I had to buy another 50 to top-up my account... That was the reason to return to the good old torrent sites.
